Use a resistive voltage divider with the proper resistor ratio. depending on your current/power requirements. One solution is two resistors connected in series, one a 5 KiloOhm, the other a 2.1 KiloOhm connected to your 7.14 volt source, would give you 5 volts across the 5 kilohm resistor. This is assuming low internal resistance of your source.
