how do i solve x^3-4x^2+5x=50

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x^3 -4x^2 +5x -50 = 0 can either try to factor by grouping or to trail and error it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i aint got an eye for grouping :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1,50; 2,25; 5,10 seem to be it lets try 10 10 | 1 -4 5 50 0 10 60 ------------ 1 6 65 ..........aint gonna happen with that

OpenStudy (amistre64):

2? 2 | 1 -4 5 50 0 2 -4 ------------ 1 -2 1 ........ nope the quicekr way is to use a graphing program

OpenStudy (amistre64):

try 5 ? 5 | 1 -4 5 -50 0 5 5 50 ----------- 1 1 10 0 x = 5 is a root now to determine if the rest is factorable... x^2 +x +10 1 -40 = irreducible (x-5)(x^2 +x +10) is the factored form and the only root is x=5
