Write The Equation Of a line That is perpendicular To the Given Line That Passes Through The Given points. 3x-6y=28; (1,5) PLEASE HELP!

OpenStudy (watchmath):

If we solve \(3x-6y=8\) we can see that the slope of this line is \(1/2\). So the slope of line that perpendicular to this is \(-2\). So the line that we are looking for is of the form \(y=-2x+b\). Substitute \((1,5)\) we have \(b=7\). So \(y=-2x+7\).
