How do I add fractions? I forgot :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{a}{b}+\frac{c}{d}=\frac{ad+bc}{bd}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a,b,c,d are any numbers but b and d are non zeros.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/3+5/6=(12+15)/18=27/18=3/2=1.5

You find a common denominator, then rewrite your fractions as equivalent fractions over that common denominator, then you add and simplify. More details can be found here: http://www.khanacademy.org/video/adding-fractions-with-unlike-denominators?playlist=Developmental%20Math
