A student lifts a backpack with a force of 50 Newtons. She lifts the backpack 2 meters off the floor. Calcaulate the work she has done.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

100 J

OpenStudy (amistre64):

W = F*d right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

100 newton-meters? might be a joule lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if it was a liquid being lifted, we could use calculus to find the work done :) but this is just a solid mass moved thru a distance so F*d is good

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually she had to move her body through the same distance...so work done by her is >100J
