Lifting a book above the table:: is it a horizontal forces (H), vertical forces (V), or both (B).

There is only horizontal force since you are only lifting it(gravity and your applied force ), there will be a vertical force once you pull the book in the table and that is in the form of friction... There will be both if you are pulling the book using an inclined plane at a certain angle.Hope that helped. :)
