Orders of Operation question!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(3^{2} * 7^{3}) - 4+9\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

exponents, multiply; work left to right after that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i keep getting 3074

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the correct answer is 3092 and i don't get why?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

3^2 =? 7^3 = ? do these first; they are inside () which is really redundant notation becuase you do them first enyways

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9 and 343

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so; 9*343 ... im assuming those numbers are correct lol... equals?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3087

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then -4 and +9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i did 4+9 and subtracted it from 3087

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i see my mistake

OpenStudy (amistre64):

:) yeah; those + and - symbols are actually a part of the numbers; like haveing a wart...
