what do u want to do with f(x)? its a quadratic representing a parabola.
Yes it is a parabola. They question was given and then told to solve and graph
You can use the quadratic formula to calculate its roots. Graphically, its a parabola with concave upwards and having 2 intersection points with the x-axis. I can give u the graph if u want.

use the quadratic formula x=[-b+sqrt(b^2 -4ac)]/2a x=[-8+sqrt(8^2 -4*2*7)]/2*2 x=[-8+sqrt(64-56)]/4 x=[-8+sqrt(8)]/4 x={-8+2(2)^1/2]/4 x={-4+(2)^1/2]/2 the other is x={-4-(2)^1/2]/2
using calc x=-1.29289 and the other is x=-2.707106781
