A battery is rated as 12V, 7Amp. What does 7 Amp. mean? Is it the maximum current it will supply during a short circuit?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Usually the notation 7Amp means the capacity in ampere hours. 7Amp battery = battery with capacity of 7 Ah. That means that you can draw 7 A current from the battery for 1 hour, or a 1 A current for 7 hours. Or 3,5 A current for 2 hours :-). capacity = discharge time * discharge current If we are very accurate, my example not 100 % true. Battery will exhaust faster if it is discharged with large current.

it mean the power of battery is 12 volt *7 Amp
