I dont understand how to do this problem: An exponential function f(x)=a*b^x passes through the points (0, 10) and (3, 80). What are the values of a and b?

a=10, b=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(0,10) \[f(x)=ab ^{x}\] 10=a*b raised to zero 10=a (because any number or variable raised to 0 is 1) (3,80) \[80=10b ^{3}\] divide both sides by 10 then you will get, \[8=b ^{3}\] extract the cube root of both sides. you will get b=2.

gotcha!!! thank you :)
