A student walk to a laake on a hot day. She notices that the air is much cooler near the lake than near her house. why?

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

1. Water reflects sun light better then soil and thus in turn it does not warm the air above it as much. 2. When the sun shines on the water, it goes from liquid to gas state and moves upwards, creating wind. 3. Also there are no barriers on the water, so the wind can blow more easily. Together with 2. this let's the air feel cooler then it actually is.

i dont completely under stand how the wind is created tho

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

As the water evaporates, it moves upwards, so there is low air pressure near the water surface and air must come there from the sides. And that's just what wind is: movement of air.
