What's the right answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x) means "f of x" or "function of x" The function of x should be equal to 2.5 or 15/6. We use the fraction 15/6 because we need a common denominator for when we multiply 2.5 and (5/6) together. Since 5/6 is a never ending decimal the answer must be in fraction form to be completely accurate. (15/6) multiplied by (5/6) is (75/36). This fraction can be simplified by dividing both numerator and denominator by 3 to get the fraction (25/12). f(2.5) = (25/12) is the final answer.
