the student population in a small resort town has increased by two percent per year for the last five years. this year's population is 765 students. Predict the number of students in five years. What is the formula to solve this problem? ***It will be exponential**

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let p be the initial population. We know the population t years after the start is: p(1.02)^t so in 5 years we have 765 students. p(1.02)^5=765. solving for p we get 693 initial students. To find the amount of students after 10 years 693*(1.02^10)=844.62 we predict about 845 students.
