what is the inverse functions of f(x)=1/2x+2

Think about putting in a value of x say, 2. Then f(2) yields 1/2(2) + 2 = 3 The inverse process is putting in your last answer and applying rules that will turn it back to the original input. This is straight forward, just apply inverse operators to the original function but from right to left this time. So we found by putting in x=2 we had an answer of 3, so we now put in 3 apply inverse of +2 (-2) then the result of this we apply inverse of multiply bu 1/2 (multiply by 2) and this gives, in steps, 3 (-2) = 1, 1 multiplied by 2 = 2 which has taken us bak to f(2). Ok the inverse function therefore is (x-2) * 2 or better written 2 (x-2)
