In "To Kill A Mockingbird" the adult figure of Atticus is a central character. He has brought up Scout and (brothers name here) to love learning. Atticus is a learned man himself. The lawyer in him teaches the children that good deeds are the way to bring forth beauty in the somewhat dangerous and ugly world.

If that's true, then you could also say something about protection. That the girl in House is not protected, whereas the children in To Kill are protected by Atticus and Boo Radley.
