i have to write a paper for humanities and the topic can be on anything from the Renaissance up to 9/11, any ideas, it is not a research paper, its a paper of our opinion

Hmmm... , so I'd probably pick something like convicts (in Aus) or slavery (in US) or the civil rights movement, maybe something on the WW2 or Vietnam, the Russian Revolution, prosperity in the 60's, I don't know, i tend to have a political bent, what do you like?

If you are American (and I as a non American would love to read this!) how about...
What could have changed the outcome of the American Civil War in favour of a Confederate outright victory and session as an outcome prevailing? Would the war of 1861-65 have been the 'First American Civil War' followed by a Civil War 2'?

i have to submit my thesis this weekend, so by sunday i should know what my topic will be, i really have no idea what to write on, so i'll probably look in to your suggestion.
