State the slope and y-intercept for x + y = –15
slope = -1 intercept = -15
so Y is 1 right?
State the slope and y-intercept for 3x + 2y = 16 I dont understand this at all. my son is taking this algebra and has 32 test due tomorrow or he fails and dont get to walk with his classor ever gradulate
I ment Y -0 i think lol
well eqUTIons which contain x and y (no x^2 y^2 etc) when graphed produce a straight line. Now the slope of the line is its gradient or steepness and its intercept is where the line cuts the vertical y-axis. ( where x = 0) So if we write the expression in slope/intercept form its like y = 3x + 1 when x = 0 then 3x = 0 and y =1 1 is the intercept and the slope is the number before the x ie in this case 3
ok great, that helps
