x^2-x+3x-3-5=0 x^2+2x-3-5=0 x^2+2x-8=0 (x+4)(x-2)=0 x=-4 x=2 check x=-4 (-4-1)(-4+3)=-5(-1)=5 YAY! check x=2 (2-1)(2+3)=1(5)=5 YAY!
