divide: x2/y /x/y2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to multiply by the reciprocal so x^2/y * y^2/x. One x and one y cancel out giving you y/x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply x2 and y2 givin me y/x? is dat cross multiplication?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\left.\left.x^2\right/y\right/x/y^2=\left(\left.x^2\right/y\right)/\left(x\left/y^2\right.\right)=\left(\frac{x^2}{y}\right)/\left(\frac{x}{y^2}\right)=\frac{x^2}{y}*\frac{y^2}{x}\]=x y
