\[speed=d/t=200/10=20ms ^{-1}\]\[v=s/t\]But as s, displacement, can be though of as distance from starting point, after running round the track, the child is at their starting point so their displacement is zero, therefore, their average velocity is zero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

speed=distance/time=20 velocity=dispalcement/time=0 as the final and initial points are the same!!!!
