OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24 is the lcm 3x-8y=24

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y = 3[1 - (x/8)]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=(3x-24)/8

OpenStudy (amistre64):

err... y = -3[1-(x/8)]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i divide by 8 or is that a fraction bar?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\[y = -3(1-\frac{x}{8})\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then u will get what aimstre posted

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay. thank you :]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

same equations; just different ways of interpreting them; my setup is more literal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

may you go step by step on how you got that please?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its just algebra ;) (x/8) -(y/3) = 1 ; -(x/8) -(y/3) = 1 -(x/8) ; *-3 y = -3[1 -(x/8)]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get the -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nevermind, i figured it out :] thanks.
