Kim bought 4 shirts and 3 pairs of jeans for 109.85. Jim bought 6 shirts and 1 pair of jeans for 94.95 The shirts and the jeans all cost the same amount. What is the cost, in dollars, of one pair of jeans?

If a is the cost of shirts and b is the cost of jeans:\[4a+3b=109.85\]\[6a+b=94.95\]You can just solve these equations simultaneously to get the answer.
or write \[b=94.95-6a\] and substitute. either way
That is solving them simultaneously.
But do I want to substitute for b (cost of jeans) if i'm trying to find the cost of the jeans? Shouldn't i subsitute for a ?
