how do i put 30,000 in scientific notation

scientific notation is used to express very very large numbers or tiny tiny small numbers. It uses exponents of 10 (both positive and negative) to express the number Your number 30,000 might be considered large so rather than use all those zeroes it would be expressed as 3.0 10^4 On the other hand if your number had been .000030 it could be expressed as 3.0 10^-5. Sometime they may be expressed as 3.0E4 or 3.0 E-5 Be more specific as to what you "don't get"
