help please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean with 2x and 3x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill send you the link

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can not see it, only you can access it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it didnt work but its a rectangle and the first quarter of it is 2x the other is 3x+2 and it wants me to find the perimeter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, that information is not enough for me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bailey I guess the sides of the rectangle are 2x and 3x + 2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If so 170 = (2x)(3x + 2) Which gives 170 = 6x^2 + 4x Convert to a quadratic equation 6x^2 + 4x - 170 = 0 Factorise which will give solutions of x as 5 or -5.6666 disregard the negative solution as you are looking at a measured length Answer x = 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That definetly makes sense, how could I not think of that :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It happens to us all from time to time :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

...so if x = 5 the perimeter is 2(2*5) + 2([3*5] + 2) Hence perimeter is 20 + 34 = 54 feet

Baily you should check one of my previous posts I did for you I found an error :(
