The widths of two similar rectangles are 6 m and 21 m. What is the ratio of the perimeters? Of the areas? Possible Answers: A) 3 : 8 and 9 : 64 B) 2 : 7 and 9 : 64 C) 2 : 7 and 4 : 49 D) 3 : 8 and 4 : 49 Thanks!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

6 to 21 = 2 to 7; so its either B or C by that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya, I went with C, but it was just a guess

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if we assume a height of 6; then the height of the other is 21 36 area and 441 (1 to 12.25) 4 = 4 to 49; C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Great, I had thought so. Thank you for checking my work!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

spose we assume a height of 4; does it still work? 6(4) = 24 (6)(3.5)(4)(3.5) = 294 294/24 = 12.25 ...so yeah...it agrees

Cool. Thank You!
