Hw do I comp, etely factor each polynomial 10x^3-4x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x^2(5x-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did u do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok - i loked for the highest common factor for the two terms 10x^3 and 4x^2 first the hcf for 4 and 10 is 2. hcf for x^3 AND x^2 is x^2 so 2 x^2 goes outside the brackets inside = 10x^3 / 2x^2 = 5x and -4x^2 / x^2 = -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

another name for highest common factor is greatest... or gcf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did u follow that ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup thanx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fine - by the way its hcf in uk and gcf in usa - lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They use them both up here in canada lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh - ok
