x-1/3=3 solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 3 +1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=3+1/3; =(9+1)/3 =10/3 =3.33

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x - 1 ------- = 3 3 x - 1 = 9 {multiplied both sides by 3} x = 10 {added 1 to both sides}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you multipliy both sides by 3 you must multiply EVERYTHING by 3 and get \[3x-1=9\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not \[x-1=9\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is my solution correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah it's if the problem was \( \frac{x-1}{3}=3\).
