first eliminate y, by multiplying equation (1 )by 2

12x + 2y = 19.4................................(i)
4x + 2y = 9.8.............................(ii)

divide both side by 8

we have x = 1.2

plug the value of x in 1 we get
6(1.2) +y =9.7
y = 9.7 - 7.2
y= 2.5
