How do you figure out if polygons are simliar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by the number of sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they will have equal ratios between the polygons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ie,side ratio will be constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see the no of sides if they are equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if the length and sides are equal than they should be simalar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

side ratio should be constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for all the sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically if you have one polygon where all of the sides are 10 and the same shape where all of the sides are 5 then they are similar because if you can multiply the sides of the smaller one by one number (2) to get all of the sides to match up with the larger one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i said..... side ratio must be constant

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

That is not sufficient. This only holds for triangles. For other polygons you have to check that the inner angles are the same!
