A rectangular board is 2 by 18 units. The foci of an ellipse are located to produce the largest area. A string is connected to the foci and pulled taut by a pencil in order to draw the ellipse. Find the length of the string

the sum of the distances from any point on an ellipse to the foci is equal to length of major axis
yes....and to have a largest area the length of major axis will be equal to the length of board
