To English/Australian speakers (non-US), am looking for the correct spelling of parameters (is it parametres?) and also, the word parenthises, is it simply the American word for brackets or is parenthises the correct word in higher maths?

Parenthesis is single brackets
Parentheses are plural brackets (more than 1)
both are used in math :)
