what does | mean in math?

depends on context
a|b means that a is a factor of b |a| means absolute value of a P(A|B) means probability of A or B
and also it sometimes means "such that " as in {x | x > 0}
and sometimes its just a typo lol
and actually \[P(A|B)\] means the probability of A given B , not A or B
