OpenStudy (mathsadness):

A guy pushes off the ground with a force 50% greater than his weight. What is his upward acceleration?

OpenStudy (mathsadness):

help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

His upward force is 3W/2 and his downward force is W so his resultant force is W/2. \[F=\frac{W}{2}=ma\implies a=\frac{W}{2m}\] As, \[W=mg\]\[a=\frac{mg}{2m}=\frac{g}{2}\approx \frac{9.8}{2}=4.9ms^{-2}\]
