Is there a way to find the x-coordinate of the x-intercept for y=3.7x-4.5, without using a graphing calculator?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes; the x axis is the same line as the y=0 axis; which means that when y=0, we get the value of the x intercept

OpenStudy (amistre64):

0 = 3.7x -4.5 ; add 4.5 4.5 = 3.7x ; /3.7 4.5/3.7 = x ; when y=0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

simplified form is 45/37 decimal form is a repeater: 2.216......

So 4.5/3.7 is the answer for the x-coordinate and x-intercept?
