What is a frequency table

Hoot! You just asked your first question! Hang tight while I find people to answer it for you. You can thank people who give you good answers by clicking the 'Good Answer' button on the right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In terms of statistics?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, then a frequency table is basically a table that shows classes or intervals of data entries, with a count of the number of entries in each class. The frequency which in this case is represented by F is the number of data entries in the class

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could i see the data that you are working with, or some sample data

OpenStudy (anonymous):

number of hours sleeping at night 5 8 6 7 4 9 8 7 5 9 8 10 7 7 8 6 8 8 7 8 9 8 7 5 9 10 7 8 8 6 I need to make one with thi data

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you given the number of classes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is what i'm doing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it wouldn't let me see the document

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but any way we have the data so lets work with that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When working with frequency tables we want to have between 5-20 classes. In this case, we can actually have each number be a class. That is to say, if we make a table and make two columns, one column labeled class and another labeled frequency, in the class column, we place the numbers 4,5, 6, 7,8,9, and 10. Then to determine the frequency we simply count now many times that particular number shows up in the data. We record that number in the column labeled frequency.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it help if i told you that the data was in rows of 6 5 numbers in each row in that order

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right, then what i am suggesting you do is correct, basically measures of central tendency have to do with the mean, mode, average.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After completing the table, the other questions should be easy to answer. If you need more help answering the rest of the questions dont hesitate to ask.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you open the las file click on the piece of paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i opened the file

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you see the table # 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i did, what about it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i make a frequency table with that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me make it for you and then i will post it, although i already said how to make it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok i think i might know how but put it up so i can check my work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got it right
