its a gd question both are similar but computer students are studying abt hardware as well as software where as IT students are studying more abt software..........thats it..........

Well I had passed out from IT so let me put my experience here.
CS guys had more Maths paper and Few more core papers such as Analysis of algo as compulsory but it is elective for IT.Maths paper is main difference.Other stuff are same but in different name.

i completly agree with sudhachandru.. it's like in CS. u got to deal more in hardware as well as software....... but in IT ,programming is done in advance level...

Computer Science is expected to have core subjects like Disc. Struct, Automat, System softwares (Compilers) whereas IT is combination of CS(40%)+Networking (30%) + Management (30%) ( IT could be close to Computer Engineering)

CS is a principle-behind-application/conceptual oriented stream.
