OpenStudy (jocelyn):

Graph and label the following equations on the set of axes below. y= abs(x) and y= abs(1/2x) I get the graph and all, but i just need help with this: Explain how decreasing the coefficient of x affects the graph of the equation y=abs(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The coefficient makes the graph "skinnier" or "wider". Since you lower it, try plugging in like 3,4,5. You get 3/2,2,5/2. In abs(1/2x) but in abs(x) you get 3,4,5.

So it widens the function.
