does someone want to help me correct my math packet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok 15/16+1/2 = 1 and 7/16 (: ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15/16+1/2=23/16. this is because 1/2 becomes 8/16 so you can add it to 15/16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok what about 11/12+3/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you make 3/4 into 9/12, and then it is 11/12+9/12=20/12. so the simplified answer is 5/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why is it improper?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for the delayed reply. 5/3 can also be written as 1 and 2/3.
