Whats the difference between Union and Intersection?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Say you have a set A given by {1,2,3,4,5} and a set B given by {5,6,7,8}. The union of A and B would be all the elements of both. So AuB would be {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8}. However, the intersection would be the set of all elements SHARED by A AND B. So A(int)B would be {5} since that is the only element they have in common.
