I'm not sure but a magnetic field induces an emf so I'm not sure if it would work the other way round sort of like in a generator

Just like how a changing magnetic field induces an emf, a changing electric field induces a magnetic field. Infact, this duality is what gives rise to electromagnetic wave propagation.
