a point can't really "cross" a line, however a line can go through a point. if you have an equation for the line, go ahead and see if the x and y coordinates can be plugged in a make a true statement.

ok so i get my slope intercept but how do i plug it in? just in for x and y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where two numbers cross on a scale, if you take your finger and go on the x or y inter spot mark your spot and then continue for the next you will have your point of intersection.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example: point is (1, 3). the equation is y=2x+1, plug in x and y: 2(1) +1 = 3. this is a true statement, so the point is on the line

ok thanks so much!
