In the drawing below, find side AC if BC is equal to 5. Round your answer to two decimal places. (Drawing: http://i56.tinypic.com/261i4wx.png)

myininaya (myininaya):

sin(45)=opp/hyp=opp/5 5sin(45)=opp opp=4.25

myininaya (myininaya):

no i had my calculator in radians darn it

myininaya (myininaya):

opp=3.54

Use trigonometry!!! \[BC = 5\]\[\theta=45\]\[AC = BC (\sin \theta)=5 (\sin 45) = 3.54\]

myininaya (myininaya):

for exact answer we have AC=\[\frac{5\sqrt{2}}{2}\]

By the way, here is a nice cheat sheet for trigonometry: http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/pdf/Trig_Cheat_Sheet.pdf
