i need help with questions like theta is an angle in quadrant 2 and sin theta is -5/2 whats sec and cot of thet

Draw a triangle: x is cosine, y is sine. If you are given something like sin theta is 5/2, you know sin is opposite over hypotenuse, opposite or y is 5, hypotenuse is 2. You can now find any trig value of theta.

The value is wrong sin theta should be between -1 and +1 it cant be -5/2 you should check the question.

given any value like that for (say) sec,

draw a right angled triangle and mark its sides accordingly.
eg: say sec=-5/3 is given as the value in second quadrant , then mark the triangle with hypotenuse wit length 5 and perpendicular as 3.find now by pythagoras theorem the other side(opposite).(NOTE:i'm ignoring the sign).
once all sides are found,then find the value of other trignometric constants.
NOTE:(imp.!):to know whether to put a negative or + sign,follow this shortcut.

* in the 1st quadrant , ALL the ratios are +ve
*in 2nd quadrant, only Sine (and therefore,1/sin=cosec, is +ve)
*in 3rd quadrant, only Tan (and hence,1/tan=cot is +ve)
*in 4th quadrant, only Cos (and so, 1/cos = sec is +ve)

by this see which quadrant they r asking and put the sign accordingly.
