HIV was recognised as a syndrome in summer of 1981. A retro virus was first isolated by Luc Montagnier and colleges , from Pastuer institute, Paris in 1983.
In1984 Robert Gallo and collegues from NIH, US isolated a retrovirus
from an AIDS patient
