amistre I need help, attach fiele ,what is sutface Area of equalateral trinangle if a=6 , b=4 and sland heigh is 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (amistre64):

let me look at it some :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

surface area of the equi triangle..... isnt that just perimeter inthe picture? of is this a top view?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

slant height tends to mean distance up the face of a side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

surface Area= Ph+2B but for equalateral I don't know formular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for this picture 3 side equal I don't know how to find surface Area

OpenStudy (amistre64):

this is a bottom view of what I think im looking at

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes surface Area triangle prism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me how?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i can try to interpret this; the 'b' is the height of a face; and the 'a' is the base; so surface of 1 trianle = 6*4/2 = 12 and with 4 sides equal; we have 12*4 = 48 if I see it right

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and the slant height means the distance of an edge; whih make it a normal 3-4-5 right tri

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes I know A =12 and time for 3 Triangle

OpenStudy (amistre64):

4 trianlges; not 3 :) lateral area is 3 tris, total surface is 4 tris

OpenStudy (amistre64):

opps; i think I assumed the base tho

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since the bottom is 6x6x6 we know its angles are 60 degress

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I for got 3 onthe top and one in the bottom, then 12*4 is surface A of equlateral triangle?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the area of triangle can be determined by: side * side * sin(angle) ------------------ 2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the top are is 12 * 3 = 36 the base area = 18sin(60)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see TY amistree

OpenStudy (amistre64):

base is abt: 15.588....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank again
