Laplace is mathematical tool to represent a signal in both time domain and frequency domain... To get know about its usage in computing visit this link http://www.intmath.com/laplace-transformation/intro.php

Laplace transform is used to transform from time-domain to the frequency-domain. In practical use, it turns differential equations in the time domain into algebra problems in the frequency domain. This makes the problem easier to solve in the frequency domain, and an inverse Laplace transform can then be used to find the time domain solution.
