How do you factor x2+11x+24?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it can be written as x^2 + 8x + 3x + 24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

further this can be resolved as follows x(x+8) +3(x+8) (x+3) (x+8) so x^2 + 11x + 24 = (x+3)(x+8) Have u understood the method??????

Thank you!

divide 24 into factors... and check what combination adds up to give 11...e.g here 24 can be factorized to 2,2,2,3 combinations are 4(2*2), 6(2*3) but 4+6 is not 11 so we will reject this .... next possible combination is 8 and 3 which adds up to give 11 so this is the solution....as shown by Harkirat..
