what is the equation formula when a straight line goes through -8 on the x-axis and 2 on the y axis and ends on the positive 8 on the x axis?

Hi there, when a line goes thru -8 on the x-axis [also called x-intercept], it means that y=0, so you have 1 point (-8,0). when a line goes thru 2 on the y-axis [also called y intercept], it mean that x=0, so you have another point (2,0) check out http://www.oojih.com/show/algebra/linearfunction/ for more explanation on x and y intercept. Do you have formula for line equation with 2 points?
