Heres how you do it: You move the decimal point after the 1st number, then count how many spaces you moved to get there. Movine left is a positive exponent, right is a negative.

see the concept of scientific notation is simple. the final notation has to be of the form a.bc...*10^n where a is a natural number and b,c,n....can be whole numbers... eg of scientific notations: 1.0*10^3 1.92*10^1 4.9*10^2 ecetra...

For example: 7897 would be 7.897*10^3 because you moved the decimal from after the last 7 to after the first 7, and you moved it over 3 spaces to the left.
