dumbcow I need help Please!, I attach file ,just set up equation do not solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

which question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just write equation, do not solve

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

23) N is number hairs on head, d is num of days \[N = 1,400,000 -75d\] \[\rightarrow d = \frac{1,400,000-N}{75}\] convert days to years 24) Not sure, do they give decay equation for carbon14? 25) half-life means half the initial value of a \[\frac{1}{2} = e ^{-.0856t} \rightarrow \ln \frac{1}{2} = \ln e ^{-.0856t}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=1/2? t=?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes set y = a/2, a cancels out, solve for t

OpenStudy (anonymous):

23) N =?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

num of hairs left on head, for this problem N = 1000, solve for d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, 24) u knpw equation or formular?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

i dont know decay function for carbon14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me send u a lesion ,note for this question

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

ok, its similar to 25) just set it equal to 1/12 instead of 1/2 and solve for time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK, I will try to solve ,Thank

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

necer mind i know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank

OpenStudy (anonymous):

23) F ?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on 24 ) say dinosaurs live from 220 million to 63 million years ago

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

right, so is it likely the bone is from a dinosaur i was able to find that the half-life of carbon-14 is about 5000 years so the 1/12 life is reasonably well less than a million years

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how u get 5000 years?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

wikipedia ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon-14#Origin_and_radioactive_decay
